YETI 2026
We are ready for another great year of reading and the annual YETI contest! YETI stands for You'll Enjoy These Incredible books! The YETI contest is a reading challenge for 4th and 5th grade students. Librarians have chosen 10 books to be a part of this contest. Students form teams of 2-4, read these books, and then compete in a book trivia style contest. We will have a Happy Valley contest and a district final contest for the top teams of our elementary schools. This long standing tradition is always a fun way to read a variety of award nominated books with friends. This is an optional, student led activity. Mrs. Copeland will guide teams with access to books, information about the contests, and practice quiz questions. It's up to the students to lead their teams! Here are the books we will read this year and some details about this year's contest:

Who can participate in the YETI contest? 4th and 5th grade students
How many students can be on a team? 2, 3, or 4 students can make up a team
Can 4th graders and 5th graders be on the same team? Yes
Do team members have to be in the same class? No, teammates can be from any 4th or 5th grade class at Happy Valley.
When is the Happy Valley contest? Check back for this date, we should know soon. Usually our contest is around the end of March and is held in the Happy Valley library during the school day.
When is the district final contest? Check back for this date. The final contest is usually right before spring break or right after. It will be held online during the school day.
How do I join the YETI contest? Mrs. Copeland will provide team sign up sheets in November. You can start reading the books anytime and start creating a team.
Practices quizzes will be shared here when they are ready.
